RE: How Many of You use a "Full Time Rated" rig?

There are smaller 5th wheels that would suit your bill. We have several friends who f/t in Holiday Ramblers, Montanas, Cedar Creeks etc., none of which have the huge trucks (Freightliners etc.) In fact, smaller ones would probably suit you better since you do backcountry etc. You just have to do a lot of looking to make sure the towing capacity is there and the quality of workmanship is to your satisfaction. (I know, I know.... quality AND workmanship is somewhat a oxymoron in the RV industry) LOL.
In looking at your truck, it is almost identical to our friends who tow a Holiday Rambler 37'. The inside of their fiver is very well-made.
We have a '03 Thor Mirage and have been FT for 2 years. Purchased the 5er (3500RL) used with few miles and relatively no use, it was stored for two years. We have been looking at the Big Sky by Montana with their Zero Degrees insulation package for our next rig. Any suggestions as to the reliability of this rig would be valued. I haven't asked the salesperson if this rig is FT certified, meaning that their waranty covers it if used FT. I've heard that many companies won't warranty their equipment if it is used as a FT home. We have no "brick and mortar" home so need input to make a quality decision. BTW the used unit was out of warranty so this wasn't an issue at that time.
Thanks

RE: when you bought your first fiver....

I was wondering about the Keystone company warranty. We are fulltimers, with no home address other than SD address, and I've heard through the grapevine that I should make sure that Keystone will honor their warranty on a 5er that is used as a residence year round. I am looking at the Big Sky Anniversary edition and would hate to make the trade from our current 5er to a new one and not have any warranty. Our current RV is covered by the Good Sam Club CSP and would continue that on the new one.
Thanks in advance.
